The Ever-Expanding Camera and Photo Imaging World, Yokohama 2010
The 2010 CP+ [siːpiːplʌs] is set to begin, offering the world a glimpse at
the latest developments in digital photography.
It has been 15 years since the first digital cameras aimed at the
consumer market were released, and over the past 10 years, the main
trend in cameras has shifted from silver-halide to digital photography.
And in this age of digital imaging, Japan has lived up to its reputation
as the world’s premier camera and imaging superpower.
Japan is the epicenter of the digital photography world and serves as
a hub for all the latest information.
2010 represents the start of the full-blown Digital Age, with photo
imaging advancing to that next level to take fuller advantage of the
benefits of digital technology for “greater convenience and greater joy”.
The new CP+ in Yokohama has as its base the photographic culture
cultivated over the past 180 years of silver-halide photography, and
from this base it explores the ever-expanding world of photography
through the full range of products and information connected with the
next generation of photographic imaging made possible through the
latest digital technology.
In addition to current photographic imaging-related products and
services, the comprehensive CP+ also covers “B to B” and “B to C”,
showcasing those areas indispensible to the future of digital
photography: digital home electronics and communications and
digital networks.
In addition, a variety of seminars, photo exhibitions and other events
aimed at increasing the joy of photography will be held concurrently.
By holding this event in Yokohama, which has long been connected
with the world of photography, and thanks to the full support provided
by the city government, the CP+ is able to grow to become a venue
capable of allowing a great number of people to incorporate
photography more fully and deeply into their lives.
From Yokohama to the world. A new world of photo imaging
enjoyment starts in 2010.

To Potential Exhibitors
In addition to the traditional areas of cameras, lenses, prints, and
photography accessories, the CP+ [siːpiːplʌs] aims to cover an
even wider swath of the new photographic culture by making use
of the connections which it shares with digital home electronics
and digital networks. Photo imaging has now expanded to include
the areas of shooting, viewing, processing, storing and sharing.
Home viewing of photographs on high-definition televisions and
projectors; mass storage of photographs and videos on BD / HDD
recorders; image processing of raw data using sophisticated home
computers and image processing software; sharing and storage of
pictures via high-speed mobile communication systems; photo
communication and the exhibition one’s work through the Internet
- all of these latent markets share the common theme of “photo
imaging” which combines them into a new, rapidly expanding
global market.
The CP+ is a cutting-edge event that seeks to communicate the joy
and possibilities of photo imaging from Japan to the wider world.
